What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Adjustment Counselor position at Ayer Shirley Regional School District?
The Ayer Shirley Regional School District is looking for a qualified School Adjustment Counselor to promote and assist academic, social, emotional, career, and learning development for all students. Responsibilities include :
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students and families
- Design and deliver social-emotional learning through classroom lessons, school-wide initiatives (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), group and individual counseling, educator consultation and training, and parent workshops
- Parent communication, teacher consultation, and coordination of Section 504 accommodation plans
- Work collaboratively and consult as a team member with teachers, principals, and other school personnel for purposes of identifying, evaluating, and recommending interventions for the adjustment of students
- Meet with parents as needed to obtain information, and / or to suggest interventions to provide support for students in need
- Responsible for the individual counseling of IEP and 504 students with social / emotional goals as determined through the team meeting process
- Attend IEP / 504 meetings that are attached to the caseload and any additional requested meetings. May be asked to write social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, and any other appropriate paperwork as needed
- Work in conjunction with the Special Education and Student Services Department
- Responsible for writing social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, FBA, and any other appropriate paperwork as assigned
- Communicate with third-party providers as appropriate to each student
- Responsible for pre-referral conferences with school personnel in a team context for the appropriate intervention for a student
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services when requested by school personnel
- Participate and organize counseling activities that contribute to the effectiveness and operation of the school
