1:1 SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSRequired: High school diploma (minimum)Must be able to meet Highly Qualified Status (2 years of college or passing grade on the Para Pro Test)Strongly recommended: Associates Degree/experience (or higher) in classroom settings Experience in special education classroom settings *REPORTS TOBuilding Administrator(s): Principal, Director of Special Education & Student Services. Under supervision of teacher/therapist to which assigned and works with members of the students support teamJOB GOALSThe Special Education Paraprofessional functions as an Instructional Paraprofessional with additional responsibilities to include differentiated instruction, behavior management, and/or applied behavioral analysis under the direct supervision of the teacher or team.*The Instructional Paraprofessional works under the direct supervision of the teacher, team and administrator. The Instructional Paraprofessional works with the teaching staff to maintain a clean, safe and efficient classroom environment that is conducive to learning. The Paraprofessional must work with the student to facilitate inclusion opportunities within the regular education classroom.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESEnsures confidentiality in regard to all student informationReads and understand the Individual Education Program (IEP) for the student in your charge*Must be willing and able minimally to lift 35 lbs.
