We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of our commercial real estate business. As a key member of the management team, the Controller will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial information, managing the accounting department, and supporting the Company's financial growth. This role is in office and crucial in helping maintain the financial system as well as provide support for the company to continue to grow and perform.

Major Responsibilities/Activities (either individual or through subordinates):
Financial Management and Accounting Responsibilities
- Manage and control all aspects of corporate accounting, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll and financial reporting.
- Help manage cash flow by forecasting, monitoring, and reporting to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Present reports to senior management.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets and forecast to align with organizational objectives and provide insights to senior management.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets and forecasts for property level entities and provide reconciliations for tenants of expenses.
Internal Control and Compliance Responsibilities
- Design and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including timely filing of tax returns, personal property returns and other required filings.
- Coordinate and lead external communication with tax preparation team, ensuring timely and accurate data.
Strategic Financial Planning
- Partner with senior management to drive growth strategies, including cost control, pricing strategies, and investment planning.
- Monitor and analyze key financial metrics and provide insights into the financial performance of the Company.
Team Leadership and Management
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluation of accounting staff.
- Ensure the accounting team meets deadlines and delivers high-quality work.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement and manage accounting software and ERP systems, ensuring they meet the Company's needs as it grows.
- Serve as primary point of contact for financial matters within the Company.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support company initiatives.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Proven of overall accounting experience. 5 years of accounting experience required. Real Estate and Construction accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Experience with budgeting processes and financial forecasting techniques.
- Proficiency in financial software applications, particularly Yardi, Sage, QuickBooks and ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills are required.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Strong sense of integrity and commitment to ethical business practices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $83,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
