The Sr. Product Development Manager, Informatics R&D provides leadership and expertise for all Informatics development efforts. The Sr. Product Development Manager will lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong technical background, capable of driving development teams, managing complex projects, and upholding stringent quality assurance standards. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of delivering innovative products, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of SQA best practices.
Collaborates with GM of Informatics business to help develop the best strategy to support the accelerating growth of the business. They are responsible for the successful implementation of new development efforts that result from strategic initiatives. This includes meeting or exceeding timelines, budgets, and expectations for these projects. They participate as a member of the global operating management team and serves as a resource for the group. They will define and implement policies, procedures and best practices. They are expected to maintain a safe work environment and ensure strict adherence to all company policies and procedures. They are expected to continuously develop process improvements and to develop relationships with vendors and other technology partners to ensure Azenta’s competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Responsibilities:
- Product Development:
- Define and execute product development strategies aligned with company goals.
- Lead cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, and QA specialists, throughout the product lifecycle.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of new products and features.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify product opportunities.
- Define product roadmaps, prioritize features, and manage product backlogs.
- Project Management:
- Plan, execute, and monitor product development projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Manage project risks and issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Utilize project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) to optimize project efficiency.
- Ensure all projects have adequate resource allocation.
- Software Quality Assurance (SQA):
- Establish and enforce SQA standards and best practices throughout the development process.
- Oversee the development and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Manage the SQA team, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Implement and maintain automated testing tools and frameworks.
- Ensure products meet quality, reliability, and performance requirements.
- Manage bug tracking and resolution processes.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and SQA teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in product development processes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with at least 3 years if experience in management role.
- Proven experience in product development and project management.
- Demonstrable experience in leading new products to market and managing product life cycle development.
- Strong understanding of SQA principles and practices.
- Experience with Agile and other project management methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience with software development life cycles.
- Strong organizational skills and multitasking
