Summary
The Payroll Assistant position requires an accommodating and analytical person who produces highly
precise, accurate work. This person helps the Payroll Manager with all tasks, including tracking employee
hours, calculating and recording deductions, preparing reports and other complex documents, and
processing payroll. The Payroll Assistant supports various aspects of the payroll process in accordance
with federal and state laws as well as the policies and procedures outlined by B&D. To be successful in
the role, this person must also be willing to investigate and resolve payroll issues and assure compliance
with company and regulatory procedures and standards.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and processing paychecks on time
- Help process wage garnishments and direct deposits for all employees as needed
- Assist in processing W-2 forms for all employees at the end of each calendar year
- Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations
- Preparing periodic payroll reports for review as requested
- Entering payroll data into systems to keep all payroll files up to date
- Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes
- Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
- Keeping all payroll information confidential and maintaining privacy for employees
- Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling / pushing,
walking, lifting, and climbing
