The Opportunity
White River Health (WRH), a dynamic and growing health system based in Batesville, Arkansas, seeks a visionary and experienced President and CEO to lead its mission of delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.
The Position
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO will drive operational excellence, strategic growth, and a culture of compassion and innovation, ensuring the organization remains a trusted healthcare provider and economic anchor in the region. He / she will oversee system-wide financial performance, including budgeting, capital planning, and resource allocation. He / she will serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for White River Health in the community and beyond. He / she will collaborate with the Board of Directors to establish strategic priorities and ensure organizational alignment with the health system’s mission and vision.
The Ideal Candidate
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare administration, with at least 5 years in a CEO, COO, or equivalent role in a hospital or health system.
- Proven track record of overseeing multi-site operations, including hospitals and outpatient clinics.
- Demonstrated success in improving clinical quality, operational efficiency, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
The Organization
White River Health (WRH) is an independent, not-for-profit, two hospital health system that includes White River Medical Center (220-bed flagship acute care hospital), Stone County Medical Center (critical access hospital), a satellite Emergency Room, and over 30 outpatient clinics.
The health system serves as a regional referral center and has been serving North Central Arkansas since 1976, when it was established as the White River Medical Center (WRMC). In 1999, WRH added Stone County Medical Center (SCMC), located in Mountain View, to the growing number of service locations. The WRH service area now includes ten counties : Independence, Izard, Sharp, Stone, and parts of Cleburne, Fulton, Jackson, Lawrence, Van Buren, and White.
The Location
Located along the shores of the White River, Batesville is a small community located in the north central section of the state about 90 miles from Little Rock. Holding title as the second oldest city in the state, the town is packed with history. The city can trace its recorded history to 1804, when a squatter was reportedly living in a log cabin where the Poke Bayou enters the White River. The 2024 population of Batesville is 11,620.
Today, Batesville is a vibrant college town with a unique history. It’s the Christmas Capital of Arkansas, the dirt-racing capital of the South, home to NASCAR legend Mark Martin, and the home of the state-of-the-art 112,000 sq. ft. Community Center & Aquatics Parks. The area is known for its outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, caving, climbing, scenic photography, and fishing.
