What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heading Supervisor position at B&G Manufacturing Company Inc?
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the daily direction of plant operations including machine operators and skilled trades, for the timely production of high-quality machined components through the CNC and General machining departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Train and develop employees to meet day to day production requirements. Provide guidance relative to employee development and discipline. Conduct regular performance reviews/provide feedback to each employee.
Improve and sustain productivity by involving employees in the work planning process. Establish the production standards for the departments. Keep Production Manager aware of scheduling problems, capacity problems and employee related issues.
Assure that attention to quality is maintained in conformance with specifications. Develop quality of work standards for each operating area and the assigned employees. Assure that proper tools and gages are available at all times.
Assure that machinery and equipment is maintained in good operating order. Check that the proper documentation is being completed on machine procedures and work instructions.
Assure timely processing of machined parts in conformance with engineering specifications. Maintain production schedules for the department.
Relate and train shift lead persons on current technical knowledge and keep them informed on every day activities so there is a smooth and timely transition from one shift to the next.
Accountable for safe and efficient work practices throughout the department. Trains employees in safety awareness.
Assure attendance/labor reporting is accurate for employees. Manage performance, exhibit competency in counseling, coaching, guiding and training subordinates. Complete performance appraisals on time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
3-5 years of experience in a machine shop environment
Working knowledge of CNC Machining equipment
1-2 Years of Supervisory experience and the ability to lead and motivate a team
Ability to listen as well as communicate effectively
Expertise in process improvement principles
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Machine shop environment. Must wear mandatory protective equipment. Possess the ability to move around the production floor for long periods of time.
