Title: Line Locator
Reports to: Area Lead or Supervisor
Job Status: Full-Time
Wage: DOE
Summary/Objective:
The role of the utility locator is to receive one calls, navigate, identify, place signal on line, and mark accordingly all affected underground facilities. These may include: gas, oil, sewer, electrical, communication, water, and produced water lines using sophisticated mapping programs and electronic detection equipment. Must maintain good communication with contractors, coworkers, management, utility workers, construction workers, engineers, operators, and electricians through phone calls, text messages, and emails, and thoroughly document all communications. Assist in the assessment of the need for repair, modification, or expansion of utility locations to comply with industry standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Essential Functions:
· Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license pursuant to company policies and procedures
· Knowledge of basic oilfield safety requirements
· Demonstrate the ability to use basic hand tools
· Work safely at a productive rate
· Must be able to work as a team, in construction-related tasks
· Close tickets and complete Job Wizard (internal communication system) daily
· Willingness to cross train and work among other divisions when needed
· Successfully complete selected/required Operator Qualifications (OQ’s)
· Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
· Successfully complete a post-offer/pre-employment drug screen, background check, physical and fit for duty
· Maintain acceptable personal hygiene and professional appearance and is clean shaven (job specific)
· Must be able to pass safety screening for fit tests and pulmonary test for cross-functionality between customers
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to complete all required paperwork
· Must have own housing
· Must be able to walk up to 5 miles per day
· Must be able to maintain cleanliness of all company equipment and vehicles
· Always conduct themselves in a professional manner
· Must have reliable transportation and maintain a clean driving record
· Attend all safety meetings unless approved otherwise by Manager
· Must be able to complete all safety requirements of the job
· Must complete all required paperwork within appropriate time frame
· Report to work as scheduled
· Demonstrate proficiency in adhering to DOT, Federal, State, Local, Customer and all company Health, Safety Environmental rules and regulations
Work Environment
The company will supply adequate training and equipment to perform the functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside in all weather conditions. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, cold weather, extreme heat, sustained noisy environment and vibration.
Physical Demands
Must be physically able to climb stairs, sit, stand, walk, carry, push, and lift up to 75 lbs., pulling, kneeling, bending, twisting, repetitive wrist and hand movements for extended periods of time, and perform numerous tasks that require physical agility and manual dexterity as well as mental acuity throughout shift.
Position type and expected hours of work:
Must be flexible. The typical schedule is M-F. Some weekends/holidays are required.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (or equivalent education and technical experience)
