- The Shop Superintendent is responsible for managing daily operations within the pipe fabrication shop. This includes supervising shop personnel, coordinating schedules, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in pipefitting fabrication and welding, and a commitment to productivity, safety, and quality control.
- Lead and supervise pipe shop team members, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.
- Interpret and review blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings to plan daily workflows.
- Monitor production schedules and coordinate fabrication priorities with project management teams.
- Ensure quality control standards are met and all fabricated components pass inspection.
- Operate and oversee use of shop equipment such as plasma cutters, iron workers, and overhead cranes.
- Provide hands-on training and mentorship to team members, promoting skill development and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain inventory of raw materials, tools, and consumables; coordinate with purchasing as needed.
- Enforce safety procedures and participate in ongoing safety meetings and initiatives.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in pipe fabrication or mechanical trade work, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with overhead cranes, fabrication equipment, and hand tools.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks such as climbing and kneeling.
- Commitment to upholding B&I safety policies and procedures.
- Pre-employment drug screening, background check, and valid driver’s license required.
