- The Pipefitter Shop Foreman is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pipefitting shop floor. This role ensures that all work is fabricated accurately, safely, and efficiently while guiding a team of skilled tradespeople. The ideal candidate is an experienced pipefitter with a strong command of fabrication methods, team leadership, and quality control.
- Supervise and support daily activities of pipefitters and shop helpers in the fabrication shop.
- Interpret blueprints and shop drawings to plan and direct fabrication work.
- Assign tasks and oversee work progress to ensure productivity, safety, and quality.
- Assist in pipe layout, cutting, fitting, and welding as needed to meet production goals.
- Perform and oversee quality checks to confirm adherence to specifications.
- Operate and ensure proper use of shop equipment such as pipe threaders, welding machines, grinders, and overhead cranes.
- Train and mentor junior team members to improve skills and reinforce safety standards.
- Coordinate with Shop Superintendent and Project Managers to meet deadlines and material needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized shop environment.
- 5 years of experience as a pipefitter.
- Prior supervisory or foreman experience in a shop environment required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and shop sketches.
- Hands-on knowledge of welding, threading, grooving, cutting, and fitting of various pipe materials.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Familiarity with OSHA and B&I safety standards.
- Pre-employment drug screen, background check, and valid driver’s license required.
