Overview:
As a Fiber Splicer at B&L Construction and Excavating Inc., you will be responsible for installing, splicing, and maintaining fiber optic cables to ensure optimal performance and reliability of our network systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in fiber optics, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements:
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
· Must have a completed DOT Physical prior to starting employment.
· Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
· Comfortable working in confined spaces and heights.
· At least 5 years of Lineman experience.
Responsibilities:
· Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables.
· Read and interpret technical drawings, like blueprints, to accurately splice and connect fiber optic cables.
· Test, activate and troubleshoot fiber optic networks using OTDR and other splicing equipment.
· Install and maintain fiber optic cables, enclosures, and other related hardware.
· Complete daily production reports, properly documenting splicing activities, test results and hours worked.
· Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment.
· Perform daily inspections of vehicles and equipment, to ensure everything is in proper working order.
· Safely operate a bucket truck to complete jobs.
· Provide support to various crews as needed.
Desirable Skills:
· Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and installation, with a solid understanding of fiber optic theory and practices.
· Proficient in using fiber optic testing and splicing equipment, such as OTDR.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various environments, including outdoor and elevated locations.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to use Google Drive, Gmail, and Dropbox.

Desirable Certifications:
· High School Diploma/GED
· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
· Flagger certification
· CDL, Class A or Class B
· First Aid/CPR certification
· Lineman Training
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
· Work primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Must be capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials.
· Required to work at heights and climb utility poles using safety equipment.
· Flexible hours and occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
