What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Optic Splicer position at Greenlight Networks?
Summary:
Greenlight Networks’ Fiber Optic Splicer will be to splice fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams, maintain control of outside plant activities surrounding the assigned work site, taking and maintaining accurate splicing and field notes, support project timelines, inspecting, and providing accurate project notes. This position requires field work which may include overtime, weekends, holidays, off hours on call and travel to other markets.
Essential Job Functions:
- Splice fiber optic cables include 12F-288F count fibers.
- Construct a proper splice case, including but not limited to grounding, bonding, slack storage and sealing.
- Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics and diagrams.
- Perform work in accordance with industry standards. Be familiar with company standards, read and follow design engineers’ instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Enter and maintain outside plant records.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and make good sound decisions based on information given.
- Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure.
- Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts.
- Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed.
- Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicle.
- Frequently work independently.
- The ability to travel Multi State when asked to complete construction in other markets.
- Work Hand in Hand with Maint techs in your local market when you not on the road.
Requirements:
- Ability to understand construction prints and splice schematics.
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning from senior team members.
- General knowledge of fiber optic theory coupled with hands on experience.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment.
- Ability to set up climb a ladder to drop fiber enclosure or coil.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Read, write, and understand English.
- Able to distinguish colors.
- Clean driver license.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Outside Plant Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing and Testing.
- Experience with various cable types and enclosures required.
Salary:
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly pay range for this position is $28/hr - $40/hr. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
