Job Title: QFS Specialist
Department: QFS
Reports To: Corporate QFS Manager
OVERVIEW
The QFS Specialist will work closely with and report to the Corporate QFS Manager to ensure all current food safety and quality programs are being followed across all B&W departments and locations. This will include both farm and packing facilities. This person will also help implement new QFS programs through effective communication and training. Additionally, this person will assist with root cause analyses and corrective actions for internal non compliances as well as for customer complaints.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Be able to understand and perform all QFS tests and execute all QFS SOPs. This includes QC Tech I and QC Tech II functions.
- Enforce all GMPs and GAPs and ensure compliance with programs such as HACCP, Food Defense, Food Fraud, PSR, Preventive Controls and all other key QFS programs.
- Be able to write and implement SOPs related to multiple departments
- Help the sanitation team maintain compliance with the Master Sanitation Log and SSOPs.
- Assist with the traceability program and be able to conduct mock recalls.
- Lead internal inspections and audits and follow up on corrective actions.
- Actively seek areas for improvement and suggest solutions.
- Train and coach employees from all departments on basic food safety topics.
- Conduct projects and studies as needed and be able to summarize and report findings.
- Be able to analyze QC and Production data using statistical analysis.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: QC Tech training, scheduling and performance reviews
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE –
- BS/BA in Microbiology, Food Science, Biochemistry or similar discipline preferred. Relevant experience with AA or HS diploma may be considered also.
COMMUNICATION SKILL LEVEL –
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Bi- lingual (English/Spanish/Creole) Preferred, not required.
COMPUTER SKILLS –
- Should be able to use Excel, Word & Outlook with moderate skill level. Also, needs to be able to independently learn and become proficient with vendor provided software for various lab instrumentation.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS –
- Basic statistical analysis, aseptic technique, excellent verbal and written skills
CERTIFICATIONS and/or LICENSES REQUIRED –
- Current or previous HACCP Certification. PCQI, PSA, CPR/First Aid (can be acquired post hire)
