Business Overview | As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Program Overview | The Corporate Risk Development Summer Program is a professional development program that provides you with a ten-week overview of Wells Fargo and a high-level understanding of the company's operations, business strategies, and corporate culture. The internship experience includes relationship building, relevant work assignments, coaching, performance feedback sessions, group projects, and informative learning sessions with key leaders. It is designed to provide master’s students with a blend of business and professional developmental training opportunities that incorporate real-world experiences and prepare you for a career at Wells Fargo. The internship program is a pipeline program where successful interns will receive an offer to return the following year for the full-time 2-year, rotational Corporate Risk Development Program (Master’s). Program Placement Tracks: • Financial Risk Track Corporate & Investment Banking CRO Credit Risk Finance CRO Strategic Risk • Non-Financial Risk Track Compliance Independent Testing & Validation Operational Risk Strategic Risk In this role, you will: Review various assignments to become familiar with policies and procedures for which answers can be quickly obtained, related to low-to-medium risk tasks and deliverables Receive direction and exercise independent judgment while developing understanding of compliance and risk management requirements Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals Effectively research risk problems by determining root cause, establishing priorities, and analyzing different outcomes in order to recommend an appropriate solution Analysis of reporting and monitoring of data related to emerging risks Perform analysis that maximizes profits and/or asset growth, and minimizes credit and/or operating losses and other risk exposures Produce performance monitoring and benchmarks regarding growth, mix, delinquency, losses and overall profitability and performance Responsibilities may include: Effectively research risk problems by determining root cause, establishing priorities, and analyzing different outcomes to recommend an appropriate solution Analysis of reporting and monitoring of data related to emerging risks Perform analysis that maximizes profits and/or asset growth, and minimizes credit and/or operating losses and other risk exposures Produce performance monitoring and benchmarks regarding growth, mix, delinquency, losses and overall profitability and performance Manipulating and analyzing large complex datasets with a programming language such as SAS, SQL, and/or Python Assist in developing and evaluating alternate methods for monitoring data quality to improve accuracy of data issue identification Program dates: June – August 2025 Program Duration: 10 weeks Program Location: Charlotte, NC Required Qualifications: 6 months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree candidate with an expected graduation in December 2025 – May/June 2026 in the fields of one or more of the following: IT, STEM, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Accounting and/or Analytics Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products Knowledge and/or experience in compliance, operational risk, and/or experience in the financial services industry Demonstrated leadership Strong analytic and/or process skills including manipulating data using SAS, SQL, and/or Python Ability to take on a prominent level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas Wells Fargo will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Wells Fargo now or in the future to retain their authorization to work in the United States.
