Description

General Responsibilities:  The QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional) is expected to supervise and coordinate all ICF facility and programming needs of the persons they support to ensure that they are assisted in gaining their maximum individual potential and independence while participating in community life.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  1. Become knowledgeable and adhere to Babcock Center’s Policies and Procedures.

 

  1. Monitors House Managers and staff in ICFs to ensure compliance of all SCDDSN, DHEC Certifications and DHEC licensing and programmatic regulations.

 

  1. Ensures that adequate documentation for residential habilitation exists and that needed revisions, deletions, and new additions are made in a timely manner.

 

  1. Responsible for interviewing, screening, and recommending House Managers and staff for hires to the Residential Director.

 

  1. Authorizes leave time of House Managers and coordinates with the House Manager appropriate leave times for all staff under their supervision.

 

  1. Monitors/evaluates job performance of House Managers and staff.

 

  1. Supervises House Managers and all other staff.

 

 

 

  1. Assures that the House Manager and all other staff are adequately trained in performing the duties of their positions.

 

  1. Maintains staff development records and ensures staff receives notification of and attends training.

 

  1. Conducts monthly meetings in each home under supervision to ensure compliance with DHEC Certification and DHEC licensing regulations, inform DSP staff of any changes in the Plan of Supports, and review any areas where staff training is needed. (add the highlighted)

 

  1. With the approval of the Residential Director, responsible for disciplinary actions, demotions, and terminations of the House Manager and the direct service staff.

 

  1. Reviews, amends and approves staff schedules prior to implementation to ensure that adequate staffing is available to meet consumer needs. 

 

  1. Routinely monitors appropriate implementation of diets at meals.

 

  1. Arranges for and accompanies people to medical, dental, and other services as needed.

 

  1. Develops community resources to meet the social/recreational needs of the persons supported.

 

  1. Prepares/Develops required reports per standards established by SCDDSN and/or any other accreditation body.

 

  1. Attends and/or chairs meetings as required to discuss any concerns which may warrant amending program plans and document necessary information pertaining to these meetings.

 

  1. Assists persons in making choices when establishing personal goals.

 

  1. Reviews assessments and other pertinent data for validity and reliability.

 

  1. Develops specialized assessments or modifies existing assessments to better determine the training needs of the persons being served, where appropriate.

 

  1. Chairs and develops the Plan of Support for each person served, focusing on the identification of personal outcome and the organizational supports necessary to achieve those outcomes.

 

  1. Serves as a member of the management team for residential programs and provides input into decisions related to admissions and discharges.

 

  1. Utilizes input of other knowledgeable people in assessing the needs of persons they support.
  2. QIDP will review the receipts/cash on hand on a monthly.

 

  1. Maintain approved driving privileges with Babcock Center.

 

  1. Assures that adequate amounts of groceries are available.

 

  1. Monitors grocery costs weekly.

 

  1. Assure monthly monitoring is completed by the 10th of each month.  

 

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Working Conditions:  The QIDP position requires on-call status.  Additionally, the QIDP is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.  The QIDP must be flexible with his/her working hours in order to meet the needs of the program (i.e. necessary medical appointments, emergencies, and absences of other staff).  The QIDP’s supervisor reserves the right to change the schedule if a change is deemed necessary.

 

Supervision:  The QIDP’s immediate supervisor is the Residential Director.  The Residential Director will confer regularly with the QIDP.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  The QIDP is expected to conduct himself/herself so as to be an example to other staff and persons supported.

 

He/she is expected to develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the management team of Babcock Center and all its consultants.

 

The QIDP has the responsibility for the direct supervision of the House Manager/s.

 

This position may require constant movement to attend required and other organizational functions.  Employee must maintain approved driving status with Babcock Center.

 

Relationship and Contacts With Others:  The QIDP is expected to develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with all staff.  When dealing with parents, other agencies, and the public, the QIDP is expected to represent appropriately Babcock Center and conduct himself/herself in a professional manner.

 

Typical Physical Demands:

Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, frequent lifting, and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Must have normal range of hearing and vision.

 

Typical Mental Demands:

Must be able to read and write.  Must be able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment and multi-tasking. Formulate decisions and act upon them. Adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communication with various personalities at all levels. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.

 

Hazards/Potential Hazards:

Climbing, biological/infectious wastes, cleaner/solvents, disinfectants/glutaraldehyde, electrical, ergonomic hazards: lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, hazardous waste, latex allergy, sharps (needles, broken glass, etc), soap/detergent, and wet surfaces.

 

Qualifications


Qualifications:  The QIDP must have a Bachelors Degree in the Human Service Field from an accredited college of university with at least one year experience in the field of intellectual or related disabilities and meet the job requirements as outlined by SCDDSN
