The Field Project Manager should be an experienced service engineer or a person that has other technical qualifications and knowledge, with a very good understanding of B&W products and services.
In combination with the District Engineer, or other Service engineers and Sales, their primary duties will be to market, develop, propose, and execute Field Managed Contracts. They will also serve as a back up to the District Engineer in the day-to-day operation of the district and may act on the DE’s behalf if they are out of the office.
This position requires limited travel to customer sites for meetings and information collection, or to other B&W offices to review engineering and design functions. Estimated travel is 1 to 3 nights per month.

Additional Duties Of The Field Project Manager Include
- Meeting with customers to collect and evaluate field data to develop Project Scope.
- Working with customers, B&W sales engineers, account executives to define and propose projects to meet customer needs.
- Develop project estimates and PARs and maintain accurate contract cost versus estimate records.
- Working with B&W purchasing and Vendors to collect pricing and place orders for materials.
- Preparing/writing Technical Reports and preparing Estimates and Proposals.
- Working as part of a team to supply customer scope specific equipment as part of a larger project.
- Manage projects when a PO is received, acknowledge receipt of the PO, develop a project number, direct engineering and purchasing resources, answer engineering questions from the customer and design engineers, review reports and drawings, develop transmittal letters, monitor engineering and fabrication schedules, arrange shipping, and process billings.
- At times the FPC may spend time on a job site to help advise on the completion of a project.
- In some instances, may perform inspections for specific customers.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Engineering Technology or similar project management experience with 5 years of Field Service experience
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with an interest in working with customers to help develop and supply focused solutions to specific problems.
- A Self-Directed individual with strong oral and written communication skills
- Proven skills for managing multiple contracts, of various sizes at one time and completing work on time. Also be able to observe/understand and work around schedule interferences.
