Loader Operator/Yard Person

Summary:

The Loader Operator/Yard Person reports directly to the Yard/Store Manager and is responsible for the safe and proper handling, loading, and storage of bulk landscape materials (aggregates, sand, loam, bark mulch etc.) granite steps, landings, posts pallets of stone, pellets, and bagged products. Greeting customers and making them feel comfortable and ensuring that the experience has them returning to Babin Landscape Supply and wanting to tell their friends about experience.

Job Duties:

Greets customers when they enter the yard

Loads and safely handles customer orders

Ability to locate and pull correct items/orders by type, style, and quantity as directed to fill order completely, quickly, and accurately

Assists truck drivers/crews in unloading of and returning of materials and items are returned to proper storage location

Maintains knowledge of proper identification of inventory items

Ability to perform safe operation of propane filling station

Responsible for accurate recording, weighing, and counting of all products

Responsible for all orders, tickets, receipts to be turned in daily

Maintain a hazard free, clean, organized propane filling station

Maintains the yard and grounds on weekly and daily basis. Daily tasks include liter pick up, blowing and sweeping, organizing and stacking materials, neat piles of bulk material. Weekly tasks include mowing, trimming, and weeding of grounds

Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team

Clean, lubricate, maintain, and conduct daily inspection reports before use

Report any repair issues or equipment hazards immediately

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

Comply with all company policies and procedures

Requirements:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

Must possess a valid driver’s license (CDL class B Preferred)

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supply yard role

Hoisting License 2A/1C

Ability to operate scale (will train)

Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting (Familiar with Hindsite a plus, but will train)

Speak, read, and write English

Work Conditions:

Working mainly in supply yard and landscape headquarters.

Physically fit with strong stamina, ability to lift 50lbs.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Work with heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis

Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold

Work flexible hours including weekend work

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
