JOB SUMMARY:

The Electrician will perform a variety of electrical duties at the United States Coastguard (USCG Training Center Yorktown, VA in an efficient and effective manner. This position is with Brevard Achievement Center Enterprises (BACE), which is a subsidiary of Brevard Achievement Center (BAC).

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.

• Performs general electrical work to include the installation and repair of conduit, wiring, panel boards, lighting indoor/outdoor, and automatic transfer switches.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all PAC owned electrical systems and equipment.
• Maintain runway and taxiway airfield lighting and control systems including re-lamping, fixture rebuilding and underground cable fault locating and repair.
• Maintain all electrical service and distribution equipment in the airfield lighting vaults including troubleshooting and repairing of constant current regulators, lighting control systems, emergency generators and automatic transfer switches.
• Maintain electrical systems normally associated with large commercial buildings.
• Repairs, services and maintains public address system, fire alarm, and baggage conveyer systems.
• Services controls and various system controls.
• Maintains sufficient inventory of all electrical supplies as needed to ensure continuous operation of all systems as described above.
• Inspect, test, operate, and maintain all fire detection and fire suppression alarm components and associated control panels.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

• None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must hold a valid Virginia Journeyman Electrician license.
• Minimum of 4 years of electrical experience (apprenticeship or equivalent training may be considered).
• Familiarity with Virginia electrical codes and NEC regulations
• Must be able to pass a background screening for access to the work areas.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Background screening
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Hold a valid Virginia Master Electrician license
• Fire Alarm Technician Certification
• Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems (EMS).

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

TRAVEL:

This position does not require any travel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift, use hands, talk, hear, see, taste, and smell. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Tasks are regularly performed inside and outside with some exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).

• Some tasks may be performed independently with little supervision.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.
