This Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable Specialist position will assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the accounting close and reporting process for Backhaul Direct and will be responsible for ensuring timely payments to vendors and maintaining accurate financial records. What will you do as a Staff Accountant– Accounts Payable Specialist?
- Primarily responsible for ownership over the accounts payable process, enhancement of the accounts payable process, and assisting with closing the books and records for month end, quarter-end, and year-end
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to document business transactions, inputs journals into accounting system and prepare for month-end close
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments, including checks and ACH payments
- Reconcile monthly credit card transactions
- Review GL coding and cost center assignment to ensure correct management reporting
- Analyze respective p/l accounts for unusual fluctuations
- Conduct timely and accurate bank reconciliations
- Collaborate with Accounts Receivable teams to ensure overall accounting needs are met
- Investigate and resolve problems associated with the processing of vendor invoices
- Receive and verify expense reports; reconcile expense and other financial reports with account balances
- Help to monitor the Accounts Payable mailbox, respond to vendor inquiries, and resolve payment discrepancies courteously and professionally
- Assist with the accounts payable process by preparing and importing allocation files while working internally with operations to input into our accounting system
- Support financial analysis and reporting and financial statement preparation
What skills and/or qualifications do you need to be successful as a Staff Accountant– Accounts Payable Specialist?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
- 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting preferred
- Knowledge of US GAAP regulations
- Proven customer service and/or accounting-specific experience
- Experience with Oracle NetSuite preferred
- Familiarity with corporate finance principles and practices
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Suite, with an emphasis in Excel
- Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail with ability to multi-task
- Possess strong work ethic and desire for continuous improvement
- Strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion
