What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Backstage Health?
Backstage Health has partnered with an exceptional school district in the Imperial Beach, CA area to contract a California Credentialed School Nurse for a 21-hour per week assignment starting in April until June 5. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students and their families while working with a supportive team dedicated to improving lives.
Position Highlights:
- Contract Type: 1099 Contractor
- Location: Imperial Beach, CA
- Schedule: 3 days per week (Typically T-W-TH, but flexible)
- Pay: $80 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Attend IEP meetings with staff and families to review student health records, provide insights, and offer recommendations to the IEP team.
- Deliver basic healthcare services to students for injuries or acute illnesses.
- Develop and implement health plans for students with chronic illnesses or disabilities.
- Educate students and staff on healthy habits, including nutrition and hygiene.
- Conduct routine health screenings to detect early-stage health issues.
- Maintain and update student vaccination records and medical histories.
- Ensure the school environment complies with safety and health standards, including the prevention of communicable diseases.
- Provide referrals to pediatricians and other health specialists as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current State of California RN License
- Current CA Credentialed School Nurse License or Preliminary Credential
- Current CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
