Job Summary: As a Medical Assistant (MA) at Baikie Bianchi Family Medicine, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient operation of our clinic, and smooth patient flow. You will assist the healthcare provider in delivering patient care and maintaining a safe and clean clinical environment. Your responsibilities will encompass both administrative and clinical duties, making your role integral to the patient experience.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or similar).
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Current OSHA and HIPAA training certifications.
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred, not required).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well with others and approach each day as a team.
- Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to patient care.
Patient Care:
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for medical examinations and procedures.
- Take and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Assist with patient history, including past medical history, family history, social history, and surgical history, and ensure medical information is documented accurately.
- Complete and update medication list at each visit.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Assist provider with medical procedures.
- Perform EKGS’s, PFT’s, and other clinical procedures as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Provide patient education materials and instructions as needed.
- Help respond to medical emergencies if needed.
Clinic Maintenance:
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the exam rooms and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize exam rooms after each visit, and at the end of each day.
- Clean and sanitize work areas at the end of each day.
- Sterilize medical instruments and dispose of medical waste properly.
- Monitor and replenish medical supplies in each exam room.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain electronic health records (EHR) and ensure data accuracy.
- Handle phone inquiries, medication refill requests (non-controlled substances), route calls to appropriate personnel, and take detailed messages.
- Prepare and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
- Take inventory bi-weekly, and ensure all logbooks are up to date
