General Description
As a Program Assistant, your focus is to socially engage and interact with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our day program while making sure that the daily operations are running smoothly on a daily basis. Additionally, the Program Assistant supports their coworkers (Program Assistant and Volunteers) and the Executive Director with the responsibilities listed below.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performance Outputs:
Job Specific:
∙ Prepare space for member arrival and departure.
∙ Support adults with disabilities with a caring and compassionate approach rooted in Positive Behavior Support and person-first language.
∙ Operating the van for activities and field trips.
∙ Assist members with engaging in shared activities at Stephen’s House and in the community.
∙ Assist members with transitions between activities and community spaces.
∙ Assist members as needed with ordering or purchasing food.
∙ Assist with receipts and other paperwork.
∙ Engage in conversation and activities with members to help facilitate activities and socialization.
∙Assist with maintenance of space, cleaning and trash removal.
∙ Maintain confidentiality with personal member information.
∙ Creating the monthly activity schedule.
∙ Administrative tasks such as emails, communication with parents, quarterly reports to DDA and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
∙ Valid Driver’s License and a clear driving record for at least 3 years
∙ Be able to pass a background check and have a clean criminal record
∙ Must be over the age of 18
∙ Must have experience working individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or experience working with vulnerable populations
∙ Must have experience working in a small team
∙ Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred but not Required Experience:
∙ College degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology or other behavior related fields
∙ CPR Certification
∙ Motivational Interviewing Technique
∙ Positive Behavior Support
ADA Requirements:
∙ Able to sit and move about the office and workspace
∙ Able to speak and use the telephone
∙ Able to speak, read, write and understand English
∙ Able to lift and carry office material; up to 30 pounds
∙ Able to read a computer screen
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
