What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trust Tax Associate position at Baird?
Responsible for interpretation and application of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax regulations to client accounts. Responsible for coordinating all tax reporting with Trust Company associates. Act as primary service partner liaison with CPAs for preparation and filing of various tax forms including processing of taxes due and refunds.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assure compliance with tax related issues
- Apply policies, procedures, regulations, etc. to assure compliance with tax regulations and management of tax liability oversight/control
- Review various tax forms (1041, 990, 706, 5227, W-8, W-9, 1098, 1099, 1042, etc.) prepared by service partners
- Provide support for inquiries regarding various tax forms and coordinate or provide resolution within guidelines of IRS regulations
- Research, analyze and reconcile items, including communication with the IRS, for escalated tax and processing issues
- Prepare, communicate, and process various reports relating to tax payments, tax fees, and cash requirements
- Develop/cultivate networking contacts with peers and service partners
- Identify and communicate resource needs for systems and workflow changes required to meet continuing objectives for business, regulators, and compliance
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Accounting and tax reporting concepts, practices, and procedures, including but not limited to fiduciary income tax, federal and state death tax, individual income tax, and generation skipping tax
- Working knowledge of trust documents and wills/codicils as pertains to fiduciary income tax
- Fundamental investment concepts, practices, procedures, and tax reporting infrastructure in the securities industry
- Microsoft Office products
- Various job functions within the department
- Ability to conduct research independently
- Ability to create and edit correspondence and documentation
- Gathering and compiling information in relevant and efficient terms
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task competing objectives in a processing, service-driven and deadline-oriented environment
- Effective customer service, interpersonal, problem-solving, planning/organizational, oral/written communications, and administrative skills to interact with all levels of management, other associates, and counterparts at other firms
- Operate standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets, and databases
- Make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments
- Detailed oriented and self-driven
- Four year degree in Accounting, Business or equivalent
- Two to three years relevant experience in trust industry, tax preparation or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience preferred
