Production Line Operator

The Production Line Operator is responsible for leading and supporting all areas of production (Yeast Line, Cake Line, Bakery, Finishing, and Delivery) to produce and deliver the required amount of product on schedule that meets or exceeds quality standards, while meeting food and labor cost goals. The production facility and equipment are to be kept clean, sanitary, and safe at all times.

Core Job Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Lead a staff of 10-30 team members.

· Correct improper work habits as detected.

· Ensure employee conflicts and concerns are addressed immediately and appropriately.

· Assist team members if help is needed.

· Answer product and process questions.

· Motivate and discipline team members as required.

· Ensure plant is left in a clean and sanitary manner at all times.

· Communicate all safety and sanitation concerns to Shift Supervisor/Manager.

· Communicate any repairs and maintenance required to supervisor/manager.

· Audit all areas for performance to standards and production to schedule.

· Train new employees, verifies and certifies performance.

· Minimize product waste and damage.

· Monitor breaks and ensure employees leave upon completion of assigned line duties.

· Ensure all products are produced and finished to specifications and standards as outlined.

· Ensure all tasks have been performed completely and accurately by employees on assigned line.

· Ensure all processes and procedures are followed.

· Communicate staffing needs to the Shift Supervisor/Manager.

· Adhere to and ensure that all team members report to work on time, in a clean and complete uniform and maintain good personal hygiene.

· Execute Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and safety guidelines throughout the production shift.

· Strictly adhere to and confer all company policies and procedures as outlined in the policy manual.

· Ensure Production and delivery meet quality standards, filled to 100% accuracy and are on schedule.

· Achieve food cost and labor targets.

· Maintain turnover and tenure targets.

· Ensure efficient and continuous operation of line to meet schedule and production quantities, to maximize product output and minimize labor and food costs.

· Completely and accurately record data as required.

· Ensure all team members are evaluated in a timely manner per guidelines.

· Ensure all team members are trained to perform their tasks effectively
and efficiently.

· All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements

· Must have the ability to lead and motivate a staff of at least 30 team members.

· Must be able to weigh and measure accurately and have basic math and reading (English) skills.

· Good computer, communication, interpersonal, leadership, and teambuilding skills.

Education/Experience

· Extensive knowledge of baking and bakery.

· Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing/production in a bakery environment.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment inside a facility that temperatures can vary from cold to hot dependent upon exterior temperatures. Minor smoke/smell from ovens and dryers. Contact with food allergens like wheat, egg, soy, milk, and tree-nuts. Occasionally required to enter walk-in-cooler or freezer for a short period of time with normal temperature between 0 to 40 degrees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Stooping and bending may be below the knees, lifting and reaching may be above shoulders. On foot on a continuous basis. Grasping, pushing, pulling as needed.
