The Senior Manager of Conflicts and New Business Intake is responsible for developing and executing all firm policies and procedures relating to Conflicts and New Business Intake. The Senior Manager acts as a liaison between the Office of the General Counsel and Director of Administration, Office Managing Partners, and Practice Area Leaders in order to facilitate firm growth while administering appropriate risk management measures and establishing best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Provides guidance to all Conflicts and New Business Intake team members to ensure consistency in application of firm policies and procedures associated with Conflicts and New Business Intake and Lateral Hiring Due Diligence.
- Collaborates with Office Administrators, Practice Area Leaders and General Counsel to establish best practices, ensure business continuity and facilitate firm growth.
- Anticipates, identifies, communicates, and offers solutions for potential risks and inconsistencies related to, and impacting, Conflicts and New Business Intake initiatives.
- Lead the firmwide administration of new business process and conflicts of interest identification, including managing critical operations, supervising conflicts, new business intake managers, conflicts attorneys and staff.
- Works closely with Office of General Counsel and Chairman of the New Business Committee to develop and execute policies and procedures relating to conflicts, client engagement and new business intake, ensuring that they align with best practices in risk management.
- Oversees conflicts identification and resolution process for new business intake, lateral lawyer hires and all incoming non-lawyer staff.
- Oversees the design, development, and enhancement of new business intake, conflicts databases and other pertinent workflows and databases.
- Monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations related to conflicts of interest and legal ethics, adapting practices accordingly to ensure the firm’s compliance with all applicable ethical standards and jurisdictional regulations.
- Responsible for reviewing, tracking and compliance with client-prepared engagement documents, including outside counsel guidelines.
- Provide leadership, mentorship and management of team performance, including setting clear goals, sponsoring a customer service focused approach, identifying development needs and fostering a culture of continuous learning for department staff.
- Develop strong working relationships with attorneys, legal support staff and staff across the firm.
- Drive continuous improvement by regularly assessing current processes, identifying inefficiencies and implementing strategic enhancements to optimize performance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school strongly preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in a leadership or management role in conflicts, intake or risk management within a law firm or legal environment is required.
- Must have the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines and to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, strong communication ability and proficiency in using specialized software for conflict checks are critical.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong research skills and familiarity with database architecture or programming is a plus. Proven ability to learn new software applications quickly. Prior experience with automated conflicts systems, particularly Intapp Open, is preferred.

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $175,000 - $225,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level, education/training, and relevant skills.
