POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Technician ensures parts and materials meet specifications through precise measurement and inspection using various metrology tools. Responsibilities include verifying raw materials, documenting results, identifying deviations, and recommending corrective actions. This role supports compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards, maintains quality records, and collaborates with teams to address quality concerns. Additional duties include inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform precise measurements of parts to print specifications using a variety of metrology tools, such as calipers, micrometers, CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), and height gauges.
- Inspect parts for conformity per drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
- Document and report measurement results, identifying any deviations from specifications and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
- Verify incoming raw materials against purchase orders and material certifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Inspect materials for defects, damages, or any other discrepancies prior to acceptance.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, measurements, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions.
- Assist in maintaining and updating quality documentation, such as inspection plans, work instructions, and process control documents.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and management teams to identify and address quality concerns.
- Communicate findings, concerns, and improvements effectively to cross-functional teams.
- Assist in receiving and inspecting incoming shipments of materials and components, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Assist with preparing outgoing shipments, including verification of part numbers, quantities, and packaging to ensure proper delivery and compliance with customer specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality assurance or quality control role, preferably in a manufacturing environment (experience in short run or prototype manufacturing is a plus).
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 is required; AS9100 knowledge is a plus.
- Proficient in the use of metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.) and understanding of basic measurement techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately measure and inspect parts to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and the ability to learn new software programs.
- Familiarity with shipping/receiving processes and documentation (e.g., packing slips, bill of lading).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to document and report on quality issues and assist with team collaboration.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background investigation, including but not limited to nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by Baker.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- AS9100 certification or experience working in an AS9100-certified company.
- Experience with CMM programming or advanced inspection techniques is a plus.
