Outdoor Garden Sales Associate Job Summary:
The Outdoor Garden Sales Associate will assist customers with purchasing merchandise.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greets and interacts with customers.
- Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
- Actively sells plant material and garden center supplies.
- Answers customer’s questions about merchandise.
- Assists customers with purchase decisions.
- Unloads shipments and restocks plant material.
- Training on diagnostic questions and products.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent active listening skills.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of plants and/or gardening.
- Ability to anticipate customers’ needs.
- Ability to recommend merchandise to customers.
- Ability to operate or to quickly learn the store’s point-of-sale system.
Education and Experience:
- Previous retail experience preferred.
- Plant knowledge and experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evenings as needed
- Morning shift
- Rotating weekends
Ability to Commute:
- Fargo, ND 58103 (Required)
