PURPOSE
The Quality Assurance – Quality Control (QA/QC) Manager will implement and maintain QA/QC management systems for Baker Group’s Industrial BU. The QA/QC Manager will also be responsible for implementation of QA/QC systems on a project basis as necessary. The QA/QC Manager will create and develop relationships supportive of the Baker Group Core Values with employees, internal and external customers.

PURPOSE

The QA/QC Manager will also be responsible for implementation of QA/QC systems on a project basis as necessary. The QA/QC Manager will create and develop relationships supportive of the Baker Group Core Values with employees, internal and external customers.

- Improve and maintain Baker Group Industrial Quality Management System (QMS)
- Work with project team, owner requirements, and applicable codes to develop project specific Project Quality Plans and Project Execution Plans
- Work with project teams to ensure that site QA/QC activities are carried out in full compliance with the prime contract, project specifications and all national, state and local laws and regulations
- Work with the project team to ensure that all subcontractors execute the necessary series of tests, inspections and checks required to ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the project specifications.
- Ensure that construction contract requirements for quality control are fully understood and implemented by the project subcontractors.
- Prepare individual Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Test Reports (ITRs) to cover the primary scope of work on a per project basis
- Maintain control of QA/QC documentation (quality records) and create turn over packages
- Disciplines to be included:
- Civil/Structural
- Mechanical Equipment
- Piping/Welding
- Electrical/Instrumentation
- Paint/Coatings
- Work with Shop QC Manager to integrate into project requirements including:
- Nondestructive examination (NDE)
- Project weld tracking
- QA testing
- Develop improvements to processes
- Assist operations managers with maintaining welder qualifications, WBS, welder continuity
- Train project field team assigned to quality control roles on quality control activities such as documentation, procedures, testing, field observations and reporting
- Develop and improve project specific quality control deliverables and procedures including but not limited to improvement of presentation, timely delivery and software selection and usage
- Visit job sites as necessary for program implementation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred
- Experience in QA/QC management and execution.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal); and ability to interact professionally with customers, coworkers and subcontractors
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Valid driver license with good driving record
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to compare drawings, specs, submittals, materials and installations to identify discrepancies
- Ability to understand and interpret contract documents and codes
- Solid organization, problem solving, personnel management, leadership and communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds occasionally
- Significant field and client interactions on construction job sites, which may require prolonged periods of standing, walking and/or climbing stairs
- Occasional exposure to variety of temperature and weather conditions
