Hybrid Role: Inventory and Shipping Coordinator
Job Summary: Inventory and Shipping Coordinator – This is a hybrid role combining Shipping and Receiving and Material Control. Shipping & Receiving supports day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and delivering materials. This role reports to the Inventory Supervisor but receives daily directions from the Lead. The position is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing shipments, organizing materials within the warehouse, and supporting production by moving parts and supplies as needed. Accuracy, attention to detail, and safe forklift operation are essential to success in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Control:
- Store items in bins, on shelves, or on the floor by style, size, or material type.
- Pull and fill orders based on pull tickets or pick lists and deliver items to the appropriate areas.
- Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory in Epicor software.
- Mark items with identifying codes, numbers, or letters for easy identification.
- Distribute stock to production workers, ensuring timely availability of materials.
- Organize storage based on size, weight, turnover, and environmental conditions to optimize space and accessibility.
- Perform regular inventory counts and audits, ensuring accuracy between physical stock and system records.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Shipping & Receiving:
- Oversee the receiving of all incoming shipments, inspecting items for accuracy and damage.
- Verify that received goods match purchase orders and ensure that required documentation (e.g., packing lists, bills of lading) is completed.
- Coordinate and schedule shipments to customers and vendors, ensuring timely processing.
- Prepare and pack materials for outbound shipments according to customer specifications and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, including handling hazardous materials and completing necessary customs documentation.
- Track and update records of shipments and receipts to ensure all paperwork is accurate and filed properly.
Forklift Operation:
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely to move materials across departments or to loading docks.
- Perform routine forklift maintenance, including recharging batteries and refueling.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to safety standards when operating machinery and handling materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas to meet safety and operational standards.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of warehouse functions and effective material handling.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not needed, or 1 year of related experience/training in material control or warehouse operations.
- ERP Experience Preferred.
- EPICOR Experience Preferred.
Skills:
- Forklift experience required.
- Ability to read and follow simple instructions and procedures.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) for inventory and order tracking.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly stand, walk, and talk/hear.
- Frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift/move up to 100 lbs. (team lift)
- Must have good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment).
Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to moving machinery and loud noise.
- Exposure to seasonal temperatures.
6 am-3:30 pm Monday - Friday
