Baker University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time IT Support Technician II for the Information Technician Department at the Baldwin City, KS campus. The IT Support Technician II will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting computers, printers, peripherals, and software for all departments. The IT Support Technician II will also install, maintain and support local and wide area networks including hardware, software, and cabling; track, install, upgrade, manage, and document all software, applications and operating systems; provide technical assistance and respond to issues related to classroom audio/visual hardware; research and test new hardware and software products; deploy new computers and deploy computer upgrades to existing faculty/staff and labs; and to assist other support tiers as requested.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Operating Systems support includes installation, reimaging, updates, troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows desktop operating system and Apple devices. Replacing hardware pieces as needed, adding RAM, and/or replacing hard drives for example. Peripheral support includes installation and support of standalone and network printers, scanners, fax machines, external storage equipment, video conferencing equipment, and audio-visual equipment
Help Desk duties include supporting users and departments via phone, email and onsite, documenting problems and resolutions in a helpdesk ticketing system, opening, updating, and closing tickets. Documentation of work performed in ticketing system; documenting explanations of complex processes developing a knowledge base for department wide use.
Software Application support includes installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, assisting users in the use of standard and specialized applications.
Position assists with performing asset inventory audits as assigned and assisting in maintaining accurate inventory records. Assists with selection, research, and testing of new or updated related computer applications and hardware.
Job Requirements
Associates/Bachelor degree or experience in higher education; 3-4 years of working knowledge in hardware, software, networking diagnostics and troubleshooting; Provides technical support and troubleshooting to network, desktop, and/or systems hardware and software. Specific to Windows and iOS devices; Ability and desire to learn various applications and assist end users with problems using those applications; Innovative, responsible, trustworthy, respectful, friendly, dependable, flexible, and multi-tasking; Excellent communication skills and detail orientated; Able to contribute and be productive and efficient in a team environment and also able to work with little supervision; Willing to receive advanced or certified training; Quick problem-solving skills; Can adapt to different environments in the workplace; May need to be on call for weekends, evenings, or holidays; and Adhere to the business casual dress code.
