Reporting to the Family and Community Engagement Supervisor, the Inclusion Specialist is responsible for supporting families that are receiving services and providing effective parent/caregivers & Early Learning Programs training. The Inclusion Specialist will collaborate with parents/caregivers, program administrators, teachers, community agencies, and other service providers to support the needs of families. The Inclusion Specialist will support families that have applied for child care services to help determine what Early Learning Programs might best meet their needs. The Inclusion Specialist will develop & deliver parent/caregivers & providers education materials to assist parent/caregivers & providers in the prevention, understanding, and remediation or developmental delays and the use of behavioral supports as appropriate.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for all requests for inclusion services and the development of processes once initial contract has been made with the Inclusion Specialist.
- Makes appointments with Early Learning Programs to observe, consult, discuss.
- Gathers all information and advises of observation outcome to Early Learning Program and parent/caregivers.
- Assists with needed referrals for progress follow-up and additional concerns.
- Communicates with families that are requesting services, to understand needs, observe children in contracted Early Learning Program, make recommendations and assist with community referrals.
- Utilizes various screening & assessment instruments to assist in identifying appropriate intervention strategies and techniques.
- Collaborates with caregivers, program administrators, teachers community agencies, and other service providers to support the unique needs of children/families.
- Recommend to teachers, support staff, parents, and others appropriate strategies for positive behavior interventions for individuals with exceptional needs and assist in resolving challenging behaviors.
- Develops and provides parent/caregiver education materials to assist parents in the prevention, understanding, and remediation of behavioral needs as appropriate.
- Ability to cultivate relationships with children, flexibility to implement different strategies to help children with developmental disabilities and special needs.
- Provides support, as needed, on ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2 completion in early learning settings, including how to complete the
ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE-2. Help Early Learning Programs have conversations with families around developmental concerns and help
them connect families with community resources. - Develops resource information packets for the purpose of community awareness of all resources available to improve the
quality of a child’s health, social emotional well-being, and learning environments. - Has strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Maintains thorough and accurate records, files, correspondence, and statistics in both written form and via in computer
databases to fully document services. Completes program reports as directed. - Ability to work independently, establish priorities and manage deadlines, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment; and work flexible hours.
- Protects the confidentiality of child & family and validates the information on records prior to discussing information
related to their files. - Bilingual - Spanish and English preferred.
