Part-Time Special Needs Caregiver – Media, PA
About the Family
A loving and supportive family in Media, PA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate special
needs caregiver for their 14-year-old child. They are looking for someone who can commit to at least one year and provide companion-style care—be a friendly calm, and patient presence for the child.
Schedule & Compensation
- Days/Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 11:45 AM – 5:00 PM
- Pay Rate: Starting at $23/hr, based on experience
- Additional Benefits: Mileage reimbursement for transportation to tutoring sessions in
West Chester (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)
Responsibilities
- Engage Meaningfully: Foster a positive, trusting relationship and provide friendly,
supportive companionship.
- Provide Support & Structure: Assist with daily routines while maintaining a calm and
reassuring approach.
- Follow Family Strategies: Adapt to the child’s needs and provide support in a way that
aligns with the family’s preferences.
- Ensure Safe & Smooth Transitions: Provide transportation to tutoring sessions in West
Chester as needed.
- Communicate Openly: Keep the family updated on schedules and the child’s progress.
- Help Maintain a Nurturing Environment: Assist with light household tasks related to
the child, such as meal prep or tidying shared spaces.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be willing to commit to at least one year with the family
- Minimum of three years of experience working with children
- Minimum of two years of experience working with children with neurodiverse
needs
- Background in child development, special education, or behavioral therapy
(preferred)
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Able to provide three professional references
- Willing to undergo a background check and motor vehicle record check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Kind, patient, and reliable with strong communication skills
