Job Description & Key Responsibilities
Balbec Capital is seeking a Senior Analyst or Associate to join our growing Investment Accounting & Operations team. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with Fund Accounting, Investment Professionals, Treasury, Valuations, Investor Reporting and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely capture of investments activity across the Balbec platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the security master and maintaining/updating key reference data for bank debt, CRE loans, structured products, vanilla derivatives and other alternative asset class investments
- Monitoring, tracking, and reconciling investment activity for a variety of asset classes within the private credit and real estate sectors
- Performing daily/monthly asset and cash reconciliations in VPM and IntelliMatch
- Understanding and applying investment related documentation and governing documents to the portfolio tracking system (VPM)
- Communicating regularly with Balbec Investment, Balbec Fund Accounting, external asset servicers and the external fund administrator
- Recording the full life cycle of the portfolio including: trade activity, draws, paydowns, corporate actions, restructurings, refinancing and exits
- Conducting ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
- Assisting in year-end audit process and responding to audit inquiries
- Supporting the treasury function including review of wires and movement of cash
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting
- 3-5 years of loan level operations/accounting experience with a focus in bank debt and CRE loan management
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
- Familiarity with investment operations, accounting, or portfolio management processes
- Attention to detail and the ability to independently research issues to completion
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Resilient with the ability to work in a highly time-sensitive environment
- Strong analytical skills
- Self-starter attitude
Preferred:
- A natural problem solver who enjoys working in a complex organization
- Intermediate to advanced use of data platforms such as PowerBI, Qlik, Tableau, or SQL
- Experience in a treasury, accounting or operations role at an alternative asset manager or in loan operations at a bank
- Experience with VPM (FIS Visual Portfolio Management Solution), IntelliMatch or a similar investments platform
