Position Summary:
The Drybar Shift Leader position is one of the in-shop leadership roles in a Drybar retail shop location. This individual leads the client experience, upholds Drybar standards and supervises shift operations. In addition, Shift Leaders manage supplies, train new front desk (Bartenders) team members and are capable of fulfilling other nonexempt roles in the shop as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform client consultations
- Shampooing, blow-drying, and styling a client’s hair
- Client product education
- Recommend product, tools, and memberships to clients
- Completing shop side work; including but not limited to cleaning, sweeping, inventory, dishes, and re-stocking product shelves
- Meet scheduling requirements
- Consistent performance of responsibilities
- Attend any mandatory shop meetings
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with members and guests
Other Responsibilities/Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:
- Regular attendance in conformance with our standards
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs including weekends, holidays, etc.
- Maintain cleanliness of the Drybar and equipment
- Research new techniques and trends
Qualifications (relevant experience, education and training):
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Lead client experience from check in to check out ensuring Drybar standards are upheld.
- Lead team member responsibilities: assign clients to Stylists, delegate tasks to Bartenders and Stylists, execute meal period and break schedule.
- Monitor shop inventory: regularly checks back bar and retail supplies, places orders when needed to meet supply level standards. May assist with stocking product, tools and supplies.
- May support inventory management at the direction of Shop Manager.
- Trains new Bartenders thoroughly educates new Bartenders on Booker, and service standards in order to set up new hire for success in the role.
- Ensures that all company procedures and policies, federal, state and local regulations are followed.
- Ensures adherence to Drybar’s Timekeeping Policy and Supervisor Policy Addendum. Responsible for reporting all time worked for self and others, including any work performed off shop premises, in a timely fashion to immediate supervisor (Shop Manager / District Manager).
- Supports shop staff with positive morale approach. Implements problem solving strategies and brings any serious issues to Shop Manager and District Manager or Human Resources such as potential concerns/complaints, notice of the need for leave of absence, notice of team member work-related illness/injury, safety hazards, company policy and/or federal/state/local law violations.
- Maintains awareness around promotion and merchandising content.
- Responsible for providing the front desk with weekly Pipeline information.
- Thorough understanding of team member handbook and all company policies, processes and procedures.
- May perform responsibilities as Stylist (if licensed & trained) and Bartender, as necessary.
- May assist Shop Manager with administrative tasks and reporting. Other duties as assigned.
- Adjusts styling techniques for a diverse clientele with a wide range of personal preferences.

Qualifications (relevant experience, education, and training) Continued:
- Valid cosmetology license for the state in which you are working
- Consistently perform styles to Drybar’s standards
- Communicate well with clients and team members
- Desire to provide outstanding customer service to clients
- Able to contribute and work well in a team environment
- Open to learning and receiving feedback from clients and shop leaders
Special Skills & Abilities/Mental and Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, and using hands, wrists, and arms for up to 8 hours
- Lifting up to 15 pounds
- Frequently stands, bends, stoops, twist and turn for prolonged periods of time.
- Frequently grasps objects like blow dryers and other hair tools/equipment
- Frequently reaches by extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Regularly talks when communicating with members & guests
- Comfortable using hot tools and hair products
- Productive working in a fast paced, noisy environment
- Chemical exposure limited to Barbicide
- Equipment and tools used are Blowdryer (Weighs one pound and one ounce, assorted hot tools, brushes, clips and rollers. Computer, printer, general office equipment.
