About the Position

The Business Analyst – Healthcare Applications will be responsible for deeply understanding our third-party applications, their configuration capabilities, and how they align with our business needs. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders—including physicians, medical assistants, operations, and revenue cycle teams—to optimize system configurations, support user training efforts, and provide actionable insights through system-generated reports.

 

Work location: Hybrid 4 days in office, 1 day remote.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Expertise & System Optimization
    • Develop deep expertise in the functionality, configuration, and limitations of our third-party applications.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and configure systems to meet their needs.
    • Stay updated on new features and updates from vendors to ensure we are leveraging the full capabilities of each platform.
  • Training & User Support
    • Partner with the Application Trainer to ensure effective training programs for new and existing employees.
    • Provide support and guidance to end-users to maximize efficiency and proper utilization of the systems.
    • Document best practices, workflows, and user guides to enhance knowledge-sharing across the organization.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Extract, analyze, and interpret data from system reports to support business decisions.
    • Develop and present insights that improve operational efficiency, patient care, and financial performance.
    • Support ad-hoc reporting needs for different departments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
    • Serve as the liaison between business teams and IT, ensuring seamless communication regarding system needs and enhancements.
    • Identify and implement process improvements related to system usage and data integrity.
    • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.

 

Compensation Range: $75,000-$114,000 compensation is inclusive of base target bonus

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in business analysis, application configuration, or a related role, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, particularly in medical practices, operations, and revenue cycle management.
  • Experience with third-party healthcare applications (e.g., EHR, practice management, scheduling, billing systems).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into system solutions.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and report generation.

Physical Demands

Physical requirements may vary slightly and should be reviewed with your manger. In general, this position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted; ability to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching and some sitting; ability to use full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift and move supplies. Must be able to safely ascend and descend stairs as a core part of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, when no elevator or lift is present.

 

Work Environment

Use of appropriate personal protection measures is required for every healthcare provider in these positions. Require to routinely use standard office equipment such as laptop, computer, mouse, and photocopier.

 

About Balboa United

Beginning in 1973, Balboa has grown from two physicians to a comprehensive nephrology team of 52 board certified physicians and 8 advanced practitioners. On January 1, 2018, Balboa Nephrology Medical Group (BNMG) launched Balboa United, a full-service medical practice management services organization. From one small office, BNMG now has 24 clinical offices throughout San Diego, Imperial, Orange and Riverside counties. In addition to office and hospital-based patient care, Balboa physicians manage the dialysis treatments of approximately 4,500 patients at 88 dialysis centers and conduct Nephrology based clinical research at 6 centers throughout Imperial and San Diego counties (California Institute of Renal Research).
