IT Reporting Programmer/Analyst

Description

Job Purpose :

To create and deliver our analysis and reporting based applications specifically Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Power BI and SQL Server applications supporting our manufacturing, sales and distribution environments. Many of these applications will pull data from SAP S4, SharePoint, and SQL Server backend processes as well as other sources in the future.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide structured data and reporting to help the business determine trends to define the direction of our business initiatives developing and on-going support of SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI applications (40%)
  • Determine possible enhancements and fixes to our custom applications by providing technical assessments, programming alternatives and detailed technical specifications, identifying the impact on business processes and system resources (10%)
  • Ensuring stability to our applications by resolving application problems quickly and identifying their root causes to implement proactive monitoring and prevention. This includes assuring backup staff for key skills and documentation on critical functions are in place (20%)
  • Delivering a high-quality and bug free applications by coordinating and participating in testing to adhere to quality control standards (10%)
  • Make sure the applications are being used by following changes through to successful implementation that include end user training and adoption (10%)
  • Provide customers, suppliers and employees with a best in class reporting experience by developing a modern reporting environment (including but not limited to Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, DAX, SQL and other relevant technologies) (10%)

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years in IT systems and support
  • 3 years doing hands on analysis and reporting using Power BI

    • Extracting data into a data lake

  • Writing SQL and Python procedures to manipulate data
  • Processing data in Microsoft Fabric or Synapse
  • Creating Microsoft Power BI reports
  • Creating Power BI Data Models
  • Understanding of, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, Visual Studio, and MS Windows environment
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and / or git for source control
  • Require experience with one or more of the following (the more the better) :

    • Power BI

  • Microsoft Fabric / Synapse
  • Python and or Spark
  • MS SharePoint development
  • Azure development
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure DevOps
  • Requires general understanding of

    • MS Windows environment and Office applications

  • Basics of networking as it relates to the processing of web requests, security requirements, performance and user interfaces.

    • Desirable Experience

  • Experience with SAP S4 or related SAP modules and development tools
  • Understanding of development methodologies such as Agile, ITIL or equivalent

    • Salary Range : 75-100K

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel average of 5% per year.
