Job Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Senior GIS Planner of the Research, Analysis and Design Division, your purpose is to support planning activities by collecting, managing, and analyzing spatial data, creating maps, and providing GIS expertise to assist planners in decision-making and project development.
This dual role encompasses technical GIS responsibilities and administrative duties related to the advisory committee on school overcrowding. As a key member of the Research, Analysis and Design Division in the Department of Planning, you will drive initiatives that enhance community development, foster sustainable growth, and improve the quality of life for our residents.
Essential Job Duties
- Assists in the collection, analysis, and management of geographic information systems (GIS) data.
- Supports planning and development projects by creating maps, analyzing spatial data, and contributing to reports.
- Provides essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the advisory committee’s activities.
- Organizing and managing meetings, maintaining accurate records.
- Facilitating communication between committee members, the public, and other stakeholders.
- Assists in the development, modification, and administration of the master plan, zoning regulations, and other policies, legislation, and guidelines affecting development.
- Researches, prepares, and presents studies of planning issues such as land use, growth management, and zoning.
- Researches, petitions and issues related to the comprehensive and cyclical zoning processes.
- Creates map and data in accordance with applicable zoning regulations and community and master plans.
- Conducts and participates in meetings with community groups, advisory groups, representatives of other County and governmental agencies, developers, and others regarding planning, zoning, and development issues.
- Assists and provides information to the public regarding planning and zoning.
- Operates a geographical information system and other automated computer systems to research and analyze various planning issues.
- Regularly update and maintain the website’s content to ensure accuracy and relevance. This includes posting new announcements, reports, planning documents, and project updates.

Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
