Under general supervision, serves as a project engineer for various professional engineering projects. Manages multiple major capital improvement projects. Manages a major departmental engineering program.
Essential Job Duties
- Reviews development plans and traffic impact analysis reports to ensure conformance with sound engineering practices and all applicable County and State regulations, codes, and specifications.
- Provides comments and recommendations to appropriate agencies.
- Meets with engineers, and developers to discuss recommendations and solutions to problems and recommend approval of amended plans.
- Determines required traffic signing and road striping/marking needed for Capital projects as well as those recommended for maintenance/upgrades on existing County roadways.
- Reviews traffic control plans for County projects and review plans submitted by other agencies and/or developers for compliance with County standards.
- Reviews submitted studies and prepares written responses with comments and recommendations.
- Designs traffic signals and reviews traffic signal plans.
- Performs traffic engineering analyses including traffic impact studies and operational analyses using software packages including Synchro/SimTraffic and HCS.
- Responds to constituent concerns regarding traffic control devices, and other safety improvements.
- Coordinates with consultants, contractors, and members of other agencies for the installation of traffic control devices.
Performs other related duties as required.

Four years' field or office engineering experience.
Additional qualifying education beyond a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years for the required experience.

Possession of a certificate of registration as an Engineer in Training issued by a State within the United States of America;
