Possession of a valid license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain forklift certification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, and maintain a Certified DOT certification.
Proof of Licenses, and Certifications
Proof of licenses, and certifications, must be submitted with each application.

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy physical labor including climbing, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of vehicles, tools, and equipment. This position requires the agility to frequently go up and down stairs and climb on and off of equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Some work requires exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, ice, and airborne particles including dust.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education certification and fingerprint checks.

- Operates and makes miscellaneous minor repairs and adjustments to single stream system components, conveyor belts, auto-sorting and sorting equipment, air regulated equipment, and balers.
- Maintains, lubricates, and adjusts machinery and equipment.
- Replaces units or parts, such as gears, bearings and filters.
- Tests newly installed and pre-existing mechanical equipment.
- Test and replace low voltage electrical switches, receptacles, lighting.
- Assists with major or complex maintenance, repair, and installation projects.
- Prepares and keeps records of work performed and materials and equipment used or needed.
- Performs various manual labor tasks.
EXAMPLES OF OTHER DUTIES
- Assists managers in training staff in proper equipment maintenance techniques.
- May operate Baltimore County vehicles: forklift, scissor truck, pick-up truck, van to transport workers, tools, and/or equipment between job sites.
- Performs other related duties as required.
