KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance and repair.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid driver's license meeting the requirements of Maryland law and Baltimore County Government policies.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy physical labor including climbing, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of vehicles, tools, and equipment. This position requires the agility to frequently go up and down stairs and climb on and off of equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Some work requires exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, ice, and airborne particles including dust.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education certification and fingerprint checks.

- Performs preventive and skilled diagnostic repair and maintenance work on production equipment and other equipment as required.
- Installs, repairs, rebuilds and maintains mechanical equipment.
- Installs, tests, and replaces electrical components.
- Ensures that the installation and repair of equipment complies with agency policy and local codes and regulations.
- Replaces units or parts, such as gears, bearings, and filters.
- Tests newly-installed and pre-existing mechanical equipment.
- Orders replacement parts for equipment.
- Identifies and confirms time frame for completion of repairs.
- Assists managers with planning and scheduling of maintenance projects.
- Communicates the necessity for proper and timely maintenance of all equipment to operators and management staff.
- Assists management staff in the training of staff in proper equipment maintenance techniques.
- Works with management and other maintenance staff to develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for mechanical equipment and vehicles.
- Operates county vehicles.
- Performs related duties as required.
