Position Summary:
As an employee of the Bank, supports company culture and mission statement to Have a Positive Impact on Peoples Lives. Provides a full range of bank product and services to individual customers by identifying, expanding and deepening customer relationships by opening deposit and consumer loan relationships as well as referring opportunities on to mortgage, commercial and Raymond James. Initiates new business development opportunities and deals directly with existing customers to expand and strengthen banking relationships.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Promote Relationship Development
- Call on existing and potential customers to develop and/or retain business by recommending appropriate products and services.
- Make appropriate cross sales and referrals to customers and potential customers to all departments of the bank.
- Quote rates and answers customer inquiries.
- Develop and maintain long term relationships with customers.
- Attend and actively participates in team sales meetings.
- Learn, promote and provide new products and services as developed by the bank.
- Stay current on all policy, procedure and regulatory matters through training which impact the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Follow up on all new account and loan relationships after 21 days and beyond as needed.
2. Develop and Maintain Consumer Lending Relationships
- Originate consumer loans; determine applicants ability to repay by reviewing the customers borrowing history and assess other relevant information.
- Prepare and present loan recommendation for appropriate approval.
- Communicate loan decision to applicant(s).
- Prepare and review loan documents with the borrower, explaining the terms and conditions of the loan and obtains the necessary signatures on all required loan documents. Disburses loan proceeds.
- Responsible for the collection of delinquent loans.
3. Develop and Maintain Deposit Account Relationships
- Open, service and make changes as requested to all deposit accounts. Input account data into core system.
- Place check orders and tickets for personal and business accounts through external vendors.
- Prepare customer direct deposit sign-ups.
- Open and service safe deposit boxes.
- Assist to formulate mandatory IRA customer distributions, complete required documentation for customer signature and process IRAs on system.
- Assist customers with imaging research, balancing accounts and internet banking troubleshooting.
- Process wire requests.
4. Act as a Branch Point of Contact
- Answer incoming telephone calls and relay information.
- Greet customers, answer inquiries and direct them to the appropriate individual.
5. Process Teller Transactions
- Handle customer check cashing, savings and checking deposits, withdrawals and transfers.
- Process customer loan payments, utility payments and cash advance requests.
- Issue personal money orders and cashiers checks.
- Balance and verify cash drawer and image transactions
- Follow appropriate bank policies and procedures when completing transactions, placing holds when necessary and identifying and reporting fraudulent and suspicious activity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Associate degree or equivalent experience and one year banking or similar sales equivalent required. Bank related courses strongly recommended. Background in customer service and sales. Computer knowledge required. Ability to work with all levels within the organization. Must have strong people skills, be detail orientated, problem solver, organized and able to handle multiple tasks. Able to handle confidential information and positively represent the company. Ability to obtain a credit, life and disability insurance license.
