Position Title:Relationship Banker

Position Reports To:Branch Manager

POSITION PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this position is to sell a full range of credit union products and services to existing and prospective members while providing specialized member service. The primary focus of this position is the opening of new accounts and cross selling of all other services while providing excellent member service and developing complete member relationships.

Serves members promptly and professionally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1.Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of lending functions.

a. Interview and assist members with all aspects of opening new account relationships, direct, indirect, by phone and on-line, updating information and resolving problems.

b. Acts as a Consumer Loan Officer, originating, processing, approving and closing member loans within established policies and limits.

c. Cross-sell all credit union products

d. Check all prepared and collected documentation for accuracy and potential problems and review for acceptability against credit union policies and procedures

e. Review all documents for quality assurance, completeness and accuracy, entering all necessary information into origination and processing systems, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company guidelines

f. Demonstrate sound judgment in decision making, abiding appropriately to established guidelines and procedures.

g. Handle opening and closing procedures, maintain keys and combinations for access to the credit union

h. Handle special projects and assist with new product development.

i. Represent the Credit Union in local community organizations.

j. Other duties as assigned

2.Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance of member service functions.

a. Present and explain Credit Union services and products to members and assist in meeting their financial needs. Open and close accounts. Order checks for members' accounts. Complete payroll deduction and authorization forms.

b. Answer questions and solve problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers, and reporting results to the inquiring party. Resolve member bookkeeping and checking account problems. Takes stop payment orders.

c. Receive and direct members and telephone calls. Respond to inquiries and questions if possible or direct them as necessary. Record and relay messages.

d. Perform file maintenance and account changes as needed.

e. Assist with entrance to safe deposit box.

f. Keep members informed of Credit Union services and policies, including types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services.

g. Maintain and project the Credit Union's professional reputation. Maintain privacy of member account information.

h. Actively cross-sell Credit Union products and services to promote a complete member relationship.

i. Attend staff meetings or training sessions as required.

3. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

a. Perform other related Credit Union duties as assigned.

b. Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained,

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

1. Member Service functions are efficiently, effectively, and accurately performed in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedures.

2. Provide informed, prompt, and accurate service and support to all members and associates by accurately processing, decisioning, and relaying loan decisions to members.

3. Good business relations exist with members. Members' problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved.

4. Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and with management. Assistance is provided to other staff as needed. Supervisors are appropriately informed of area activities.

5. Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely.

6. The Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.

7. Membership growth, including services per member, are in line with Credit Union standards and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Knowledge:1-3 years Credit Union experience. Knowledge of consumer products and services or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/Abilities: Excellent Interpersonal skills including courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

Excellent Communication skills.

Excellent Consultative sales skills.

Strong Organization skills.

Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.

Excellent PC and Internet skills

Solid writing skills

Ability to follow procedures and guidelines.

Ability to identify product needs including lending options and provide feedback

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Talking:Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength:Active work; standing, reaching, kneeling, stooping, bending and manipulating small and large objects most of the time. Requires occasional lifting (>25 lbs).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.14 - $28.72 per hour
