Position Summary: This role will act as a key member of the bank's management team while supervising and overseeing the consumer customer contact areas of the office. The Office Manager will demonstrate strong sales skills to meet personal and team business development goals. This role is responsible for the management, retention, and expansion of the bank's loan and deposit portfolios, and will build existing and new relationships through business development, referral and calling efforts to market BankIowa and cross sell BankIowa products and services. The Office Manager will oversee the assigned branch and lead by setting strategy, seeking out growth opportunities for business development, as well as by training and providing monthy coaching to the consumer branch staff.
Accountability 1: (55%)
- Demonstrates proactive, consultative skills to identify customer and prospect needs. Presents recommendations of applicable BankIowa products and services to meet their financial needs representing an array of products comprising of; home equity and home equity lines of credit, consumer deposit and loans products, commercial deposit and business purpose loans within underwriting guidelines.
- Manages, maintains, develops, and grows a consumer banking portfolio. Perform and monitor all necessary documentation including completion of portfolio management reports and duties in accordance with bank and department lending policies.
- Manage IRA and HSA portfolios.
- Takes ownership to research and resolve any client issues.
- Possesses and maintains a thorough knowledge of all bank products and services.
- Utilizes BankIowa technology effectively in the opening of customer accounts including deposit products, and consumer loans.
- Participates in outside sales calls to build new customer relationships and develop a presence in our community.
- Participates in client functions and community service events as a bank representative.
- Works effectively with colleagues across the bank to manage client relationships.
- Refers clients to internal experts for complex financial needs, such as business/commercial/agriculture loans, investments and trust, first mortgage product and estate services.
- Actively participates in efforts to achieve personal, group and bank sales/growth goals.
- Ensures all activities, transactions and records are in compliance with operational, security and control procedures and policies of BankIowa and regulatory laws.
Accountability 2: (20%)
Challenges and motivates staff. Behaves in a manner that demonstrates and fosters teamwork and a positive work environment, treating all employees with respect and giving full support and encouragement. Provides personnel with business development support and coaching opportunities. Conducts personnel selection, assigns training, provides performance evaluations, wage recommendations and terminations. Provides overall supervision and guidance to subordinates in daily operations to assure proper adherence to Bank policies and procedures. Assists with implementing and addressing training needs for support staff as systems are upgraded, enhanced, changed or products are added or changed. Ensures that department policies and written procedures are up to date for support staff. Ensures staff receives adequate training to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively.
Accountability 3: (15%) Operations
- Provide management reports that accurately reflect bank performance in area of responsibility
- Monitor account activity by making daily payment decisions and supervise the collection of delinquent deposit account balances
- Produce account documents that are accurate and comply with bank and governmental regulations
- Enter and maintain account and client information in an accurate manner
- Pursue collection of past due consumer loans and charged off deposit accounts
- Oversee the repossession and foreclosure of loan collateral
- Stay abreast of compliance issues to ensure that all bank and regulatory guidelines are being followed. Notify Consumer Banking Manager of necessary changes in procedure
- Monitor adherence to policy and procedures including, but not limited to, currency transactions reporting, suspicious activity reporting, and security logs
- Serve as an active member of the Office Manager and Retail Loan Committees effectively communicating pertinent committee information to office personnel.
- Monitor daily office reports as detailed in the Best Practices. Correct deficiencies/errors as indicated on these reports and take the necessary steps to prevent recurrence
- Oversee building and equipment condition. Perform annual walkthrough with Facilities Manager documenting action items and completion
- Handle expenditures for maintenance and capital improvements according to the established procedure
- Provide recommendations and information for budgeting
- Responsible for assignment of daily opening and closing procedures, training all office staff on these procedures.
Accountability 3: (5%)
- Understands and complies with all relevant Bank Secrecy/OFAC/CIP policies and procedures. Completes annual training. Maintains awareness of customer expected and unexpected transaction habits. Reports anomalies to Bank Secrecy Act Officer.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: (5%)
- Performs miscellaneous duties related to the bank and its functions as requested by supervisor.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
- Effective interpersonal communication abilities.
- Prior supervisory experience, business development and coaching preferred
- Ability to gather, interpret, summarize and evaluate information and data to identify opportunities to serve clients and formulate conclusions and make recommendations.
- Ability to set priorities, objectives and goals.
- High School diploma and banking experience. College degree preferred.
- Must be bondable.
