Duties and responsibilities
Monitor wastewater pre-treatment with a dissolved air floatation systemPerform various laboratory analysisPrepare samples for testing or analysisPerform regular maintenance of laboratory equipment by inspecting, calibrating, cleaning, or sterilizingPrepare monitoring analysis to maintain records at all timesMonitor grease skimmer and water separator systemOperate forkliftInteract with others in a professional and ethical mannerFollow department and company proceduresKeep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this companyOther duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel Requirements
Massachusetts Wastewater License Grade 2 or higher1-2 years previous work-related experience preferred; on the job training providedHigh School Diploma or Equivalent; education in water / wastewater treatment and / or basic laboratory skills preferredAbility to work overtime and adjust shift start / end times when neededMath skillsAbility to work alone or in small groupsMust be self-motivated and able to decide when to do tasks based on training and experienceAbility to diagnose problems and find solutionsBasic Computer skills for analysis and data entryAbility to use English to communicate effectively verbally and in writingBasic mechanical and repair skillsPhysical Demands / Requirements
Constantly (over 2 / 3) :
Maneuver up and down various types of stairways and ramps, to include small steps.Assess water treatment quality and make changes as necessaryMust be able to position self to maneuver around machinery and make chemical adjustments.Regular lab work, which can be done sitting down.Use and maintain chemical pumps and laboratory equipmentExposed to greasy conditions and strong odors common in the rending industryUses personal protective equipment including safety glasses, gloves, masks and safety shoesOperates computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printerFrequently (1 / 3-2 / 3) :
Operates and uses a forklift.Ascend / descend ladders to check levels in tanks and skimmersBending, moving and working on slippery and / or uneven floorsOccasionally (under 1 / 3) :
