DESCRIPTION
As part of a high school secondary teaching assignment, teaches one or more classes in the field of Business Education to students in grades 9-12, and assists in other school programs as assigned. Is under the immediate direction of the school Principal.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Teaches knowledge and skills in business education, which may include typing, note-taking, bookkeeping, record keeping, office procedure, business communication or basic business to high school students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.
•Instructs students in citizenship, basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
•Assists students in the development of work habits that are necessary for the quality of performance required in business and industry.
•Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
•Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment.
•Evaluates each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports.
•Communicates with parents and school counselors on the individual student's progress.
•Supervises students in out -of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
•Selects and requisitions instructional materials, books, etc., and maintains inventory records.
•May administer or monitor group tests.
•Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level.
•Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.
•May plan and coordinate the work of teacher aides or student teachers.
•Performs other concomitant duties as may be reasonably assigned.
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Credential: General Secondary or Single Subject in Business with a CLAD or equivalent.
Education: Bachelor's degree including all courses to meet credential requirements.
Experience: Practice teaching (6 semester hours or 120 clock hours) or two years of full-time teaching experience, at least half in the field of Business.
Personal Characteristics: Appearance, grooming, and personality which establishes desirable examples for pupils. Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance of the teacher. Skills in written and oral expression which provide a desirable model for students.
Salary : $64,289 - $135,935
