Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk

SUMMARY
The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for balancing, processing, and maintaining accounts, requisitions, and invoices and ensuring the approval process is followed. Assist with compiling records and reports as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-year degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience working in accounting with accounts payable.
- Must be experienced in Microsoft software applications and database programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to positively represent the agency to internal and external contacts.
- Meets the general qualifications for employment as outlined in the agency's personnel policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures checks are written weekly.
- Ensures approval process and purchasing procedures are followed.
- Maintains accounts payable files and work area in a clean and organized manner.
- Knowledgeable of vendor numbers which affect the payee of each check written.
- Prepares account analysis as requested throughout the year and maintains detailed accounting for particular account items.
- Prepares 1099's at the end of the calendar year.
- Verifies operating fund replenishment reports for service areas.
- Notary for BCH
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Attends training courses as needed, to maintain and develop skills necessary for the position.
- Represents Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. in a professional manner.
- Willing to perform other duties as assigned.
- Respect the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of staff members and children in care and strives to create a positive relationship within BCH.
- Participates in the agency's Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program as needed.
EQUIPMENT:
Ability to operate standard office machines such as copier, computer, fax, calculator, postage, etc. Ability to work within Outlook, Excel, and Word software programs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general information. Ability to effectively communicate with others, including managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Regular contact with colleagues in all departments, as well as with outside individuals and groups; should represent Baptist Children's Homes of NC, Inc. in a positive manner. Contacts outside of the agency where proper handling of situations is of utmost importance as the agency's image could be affected.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Excellent mathematical skills and the ability to use accounting software and calculator to calculate figures.
MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITORY DEMAND:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and ability to draw conclusions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear both in person and on the telephone.

Complies with agency policies and procedures concerning confidentiality, including payroll, budgeting, and HIPPA regulations involving all aspects of client information, which include day-to-day care of the children, case records, family information, medical information, psychological services, etc which if disclosed, would have adverse internal and/or external effect, and could result in termination of employment.
