OB TITLE: Behavioral Health Medical Assistant
REPORTS TO: Chief Nursing Officer
Hours: 8am-5:00pm. (Must Be able to travel to the North Shore 3 days out the week.)

Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Room patients, obtain vitals, patient history, and reason for seeking care
- Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures
- Perform Front Desk functions including scheduling
- Prepares zoom calls for providers and completes virtual intake for telemedicine visits
- Follow prescription refill procedures
- Maintain patient records confidentiality
- Follows current procedures for collecting copayments and verifying insurance eligibility
- Assist the provider with patient education pertaining to their ongoing health care: Results of lab, x-ray, etc. reports
- Diet and exercise
- Laboratory and radiology preparation (labeling, etc)
- Administers medications while adhering to the rights of medication administration
Additional Responsibilities:
- Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols
- Maintain clean and organized work area and exam rooms
- Maintains adequate supplies, medications, and immunizations necessary for effective clinic operation
- Maintains infection control processes
- Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times including wearing appropriate uniforms and ID badges while on duty
- Adhere to employer work practices as described in Baptist Community Health Services Policies and Procedures Manual
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management
- Effectively cope with typical job stress
- Document work processes as required including appropriate processing of inboxes in a timely manner
- Updates medical record as required during patient visit Review of medications
- Review of health history
- Review of demographic information
- Completion of LINKS/Athena for vaccinations administered
- Ensures timely processing of inbox messages (keeps inbox to less than 10 messages daily)
- Timely completion of required educational offerings in Relias and in person
- Attends quarterly all staff training sessions
- Participation in community events
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current Medical Assistant certification verified with certificate of completion from a recognized medical assistant training program
- CPR certification for Health Care Providers from the American Heart Association
- Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively
- Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone, and in writing
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance
Skills:
- Medical terminology
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of medications and injection procedures
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to hear adequately to perform job duties in person and over the telephone
- Able to use stethoscope and respond to verbal questions
- Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone
- Vision must be acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens
- Must have the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required
- Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service, including injections
- Frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift
- Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment
