Title: Personal Care Assistant
Status: Full Time
Shift: Days 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
Requirements for Personal Care Assistant:
- A non-certified, unlicensed assistive person who assists with activities of daily living for residents living in a Personal Care facility.
- The PCA will be under direction and supervision of the Nurse Supervisor/LPN.
- Responsible for assisting residents with maintaining their personal items, offering snack trays and beverages as needed, keeping resident's living areas pleasant and orderly, responding promptly to residents' call lights and observing and reporting residents' conditions to appropriate staff.
Responsibilities for Personal Care Assistant:
- Provides resident care in a manner conducive to safety and comfort
- Resident care includes, but not limited to: a) assisting residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, making phone calls, getting to meals, etc. b) Obtains weights as needed and records in proper location c) Provides supervision and assistance as needed for ambulation/transfers d) Assists with apply adaptive equipment as needed e) Cares for personal belongings f) Assists the physician or nurse as needed g) Makes bed as needed h) Accompanies residents as needed to appointments i) Participates in the service plan and implements care accordingly j) Records resident ADL performance k) Answer call light promptly, deliver messages, cleans areas of spillage or accidents l) Uses standard precautions when caring for residents; adheres to contact precautions m) Participates in the orientation of new aides n) Reports changes in resident conditions, resident/family concerns or complaints to nurse supervisor o) Collects and bags soiled lines to be laundered p) Performs laundering personal clothing as needed for residents q) Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive Protected Health Information r) Participates in staff in-serving as required s) Stays and works beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet staffing requirements and/or needs of resident t) Assists with daily social activities u) Assists with serving of resident meals w) Maintains a pleasant and helpful attitude with residents, visitors and peers x) Maintains a professional appearance follows dress code for facility y) Works with team member and other staff member in a helpful, respectful and courteous manner
