What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Programs Coordinator position at Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum?
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Education Programs Coordinator will deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate educational programs which includes (but not limited to): school group programs at the Museum, community outreach programs, special events, and some weekend and evening programs.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
The Education Programs Coordinator reports directly to the Education Programs Manager
Examples of Duties:
Field Trip Program Facilitator and Tour Guide
· Book field trips (maintain appointments on company calendar)
· Ensure invoices and tax exemption forms are on file and delivered
· Schedule and confirm volunteers
· Reach out to field trip contact prior to their visit to answer questions and update invoices
· Greet the group upon arrival and walk the contact through payment at the guest services desk
· Perform set up and breakdown of programs with assistance of volunteers
· Lead student tours with the assistance of volunteers
Education Program Development
· Create and send educational focused e-blast communications to teachers and other stakeholders
· Compile feedback in the form of a survey after each school program
· Maintain a current database of teacher emails for the purpose of sending e-blasts and other digital communications
· Maintain and regularly update impact data information (e.g., school, school district, number of students participating)
· Continuing Education: Research and work toward attaining STEM Certification(s)
Summer Education Programs
· Assist in the development of STEM related summer camp programs
· Assist with delivering summer camp programs
Boy Scouts Program
· Coordinate classroom set up and breakdown
· Ensure volunteers hold current credentials as required by the Boy Scouts of America
· Recruit volunteers with the assistance of the Education Programs Manager
· Continuing Education: Research and work toward attaining BSA Certification(s)
Public Event Weekends
· Assist at the Guest Services Desk and Turn 9 Club operations
· Identify ways to engage with the community including but not limited to networking with local businesses and institutions
· Attend community events to promote museum education programs
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in STEM, education or relevant field
· One to three years experience in education working with K-12 students or museum setting
· Experience with research, development, implementation, and oversight of programs
for young audiences in a museum or other learning setting is preferred
· Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
Knowledge, Skill, Ability:
· Familiarity with the Alabama Course of Study and with STEM curriculum is preferred
· Excels at communicating with the public, including Museum visitors, teachers, parents/caregivers, program donors, and community members in a courteous and professional manner
· Ability to master basic office skills, including Microsoft Office programs
· Ability to handle emergency situations with professionalism and competence
· Ability to load, unload, and set up materials and equipment (up to 40 lbs) and stand for extended periods of time (up to 6 hours)
