What are the responsibilities and job description for the Canine Outdoor Activities Leader position at Bark 'n Ride Pets?
Overview
Hey there! I'm seeking a confident and enthusiastic dog lover to join forces with me and my pack on Fridays for our off-leash play group! This role is perfect for individuals who love dogs, working independently and spending time in nature. As an Off-Leash Play Facilitator, you will be responsible for picking dogs up from their homes, bringing them into nature, ensuring their safety and well-being during their outings, and returning them to their parents tired and fulfilled. This position requires a strong commitment to animal welfare and excellent customer service skills. This job is not for: people who love sitting at a desk and answering emails.
Duties
- Pick dogs up from their homes
- Ensure the safety of dogs while out, including managing interactions with their playmates, other animals and (rarely) people.
- Provide basic training commands during hikes to reinforce good behavior.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their dog's needs and any concerns that arise during walks.
- Handle occasional lifting when necessary, such as assisting dogs into the car.
- Respond effectively when the occasional emergency arises
Experience
- Previous experience in pet care, such as dog handling or pet sitting, is preferred.
- Comfort in all weather conditions.
- Comfort in managing groups of 4-6 dogs off-leash.
- Good situational awareness.
- Familiarity with basic animal first aid or a willingness to learn.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and address their concerns.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
I've been doing this for 16 years by myself and I LOVE it! It's very fun and low-stress. But I'm moving further north and will need some days covered as the commute is too far. I'm easy-going and there's lots of flexibility. If you love it, the opportunity to take on more days in the future exists! You must have your own car (mid to full size SUV preferred but a sedan will do).
